CHAIRMAN of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Odu electoral ward of Nasarawa State, Tukura Osu, has stated that the party had “suffered unquantifiable loses” over the defection of a founding member and grassroots politician, Mohammed Yarima Al-Basheer to the opposition Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Osu made this known when he led a delegation of the party's leadership to pay Al-Basheer a courtesy call at Nasarawa Local Government Area's VIP Lodge in Nasarawa on Surday where they appealed for his return to the governing party.
According to him, Al-Basheer has been the only pillar of the party in the ward and recalled how he prevailed on Governor Sule to attract life-impactful dividends of democracy which had in no small measures improved the standard of living.
The APC Chairman who described Al-Basheer as an uncommon leader noted that despite the injustice meted out to him leading to his defection, he worked tirelessly for the re-election victory of Governor Sule and election of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president.
He therefore, on behalf of the delegation who were representing the entire members of the APC from the Ward, pleaded with Al-Basheer to return to the party.
Also speaking, the ward Women Leader, Ene Umoguru, said they have concluded that as their worthy son with whom they are well pleased, they deemed it necessary to woo him back into the party he helped built along with other compatriots.
In his remarks, Al-Basheer, thanked the delegation for identifying with him, for appreciating his efforts and above all, for calling on him to return to his first and true family, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Al-Basheer noted that the governing party at all levels had done marvelously well, hence his active role during the last electioneering processes.
“I've always been with and for the Progressives, rejoining old time friends and family is something I will be the happiest man to do, more so that several calls had been made on me,” he said.
He however pleaded for time in order to make “wider consultation after which he will get back to them.”
