Ekiti State which was created on the 1st of October 1996 is known for its large concentration of renowned professors and intelligent people.
The people of the state will again troop out to elect their leader next year after the expiration of the tenure of the incumbent Governor, John Kayode Fayemi.
Will history repeats itself as regards former Governors leading the state again?
Ekiti governorship election is always interesting because of the political drama being played out before and during the election. Many people are wondering if history will repeat itself as regards former Governors contesting and winning elections.
Recall that the immediate past Governor of the state, Peter Ayodele Fayose popularly known as 'Oshokomole' came back as Governor many years after he was impeached by the members of the House of Assembly.
Also, the incumbent Governor of the state, John Kayode Fayemi came back as Governor four years after he was defeated by the candidate of the People's Democratic Party, Peter Ayodele Fayose in 2014.
Now that the governorship election is coming up in a few months, Former Governor of the State, Chief Segun Oni has picked his nomination form to contest the People's Democratic Party primary election.
The question in the mouth of many residents of the agrarian state is whether history will repeat itself as regards former Governors leading the state again.
History may not likely repeat itself because of the aspirants former Governor Segun Oni have to contend with. Former Governor Ayo Fayose has his own anointed candidate for the PDP primary election, this will pose as a major threat to the aspiration of Engineer Segun Oni to come back to govern Ekiti again.
