Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
The former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the governorship candidate of APGA in the forthcoming gubernatorial elections in Anambra state, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has weighed in on the implications of the stay-at-home order on the economy of the region, Anambra state in particular.
Over the past few weeks, the leadership of the Indegenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) have been enforcing a compulsory stay-at-home order in the Southeastern region of the country, in a bid to secure the release of their detained leader, Nnamdi Kanu. The stay-at-home order from the proscribed group has been counterproductive as a lot of casualties have been recorded within the region.

Though, the leadership of IPOB have always tried to distance themselves from the gruesome enforcement of this stay-at-home order but intelligent reports emanating from the region have always fingered the secessionist group. Recently, a good number of well Southeasterners have demanded for the immediate withdrawal of the stay-at-home order and notably, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has joined the increasing number of Igbos who are kicking against the stay-at-home order.
Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.
Speaking recently on the detrimental nature of the bizarre stay-at-home order, Soludo cited economic challenges as a typical instance. According to the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Anambra state - the economic hub of the Southeastern region - loses an estimated N19.6 billion in every day the stay-at-home order was enforced. The gubernatorial candidate bemoaned the rising economic challenges created by IPOB and has urgently called upon the group to relax such stringent orders.
Granted, the continued show of displeasure from Southeasterners over the stay-at-home order and Soludo's recent revelation could orchestrate the end of the stay-at-home order within the Southeastern region. Gradually, the Southeasterners are being hit by the unfortunate realities concerning the stay-at-home order and this is obviously making the end of the stay-at-home order imminent.
