Exposed: Joy Nunieh doesn't have NYSC certificate - Akapbio tells reps

Minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godswill Akpabio has accused the Former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Joy Nunieh that she does not have a National Youth Service Corps certificate, NYSC.

The minister disclosed this with the House Representatives Committee on the NDDC probe. He went further that Joy Nunieh never participated in the mandatory one year national service of the NYSC, and thus she is not qualified to hold such position.

According to Akapbio, Nunieh did not also have an exemption letter from the NYSC as a substitute for not serving the nation for one year.

Akpabio said the former NDDC boss was relieved of her appointment when he received a letter from the late Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari that she did not have the requisite qualifications to remain as NDDC’s acting Managing Director.

Akpabio said he has written to the NYSC twice to make his findings on the issue. And he was told twice that she never participated in the National service not did she have an exemption letter.

The minister also said that noncompliance and disobedience was among the reasons why Nunieh was sacked.

The House of Representatives is probing alleged mismanagement of billions of naira in the NDDC.

Akpabio and Nunieh had been engaging in bitter exchange of words in the last few days, with the former NDDC boss accusing him of sexual harassment.
