Governor Nyesom Wike explained the statement above saying that the power he has is "to vote who the next party's chairman should be in the forthcoming PDP national convention." Governor Nyesom Wike added that what matters for now is the unity of the party and not the national chairman per se. He highlighted that when the party had a national chairman in the past, there was no unity among the party members. To him, unity should be sought first before a consideration of a party chairman.
