A law suit was filed by RAP (Reform Advancement Party) and it's Governorship candidate for the 2019 elections, Mr. Okere Kingdom, where he asked the court to restrain Hope Uzodinma from acting as the Governor of Imo State.
Mr. Okere Kingdom informed the court that he filed an application asking the court to shorten the time within which Hope Uzodinma, the defendant, will file his response.
Mr. Kingdom Okereke explained that Hope Uzodinma was illegally occupying the the seat as Imo state's Governor and this was a matter of constitutional necessity.
Mr. Okereke also said that Hope Uzodinma did not participate in the 2019 Governorship elections as a candidate of any official political party.
Mr. Alhassan Umar, SAN, who is the Counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) informed the court that in accordance to the concept of fear hearing, the respondent is required to take the adequate time as issued by the law to respond.
Umar disagreed saying that the litigant could not take the time required of him to file his processes, only to ask the court to shorten the time for the defendants.
The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Okon Abang has adjourned the proceeding until July 20th to hear the appeal.
