Magu Vows To Cooperate With Prope Panel But Makes A Request

Ibrahim Magu, the suspended acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has vowed to cooperate with the presidential panel probing the allegations leveled against him. He also made a request from the presidency for a fair and just people.

Mr. Magu was arrested on Monday 6th of July and dragged to the presidential villa in Abuja where he faced the panel led by one justice Ayo Salami. Ayo Salami is a former president of the court of appeal.

Magu was detained at area 10 force criminal investigation department (FCID) in Abuja before his release on Wednesday, 15th July.

In his Friday's statement, Mr. Magu's lawyer, Wahab Shittu, has said his client is not considering any legal action against the federal government of Nigeria. Rather he said himself and his client have submitted to the probe since no one is bigger than the law.

 However, he appealed for a fair and just probe forwardings towards his client. He also implored all Nigerian to be patient and leave their minds open until the end of the probe is accomplished.

According to Wahab, Mr. Magu appreciates all the endeavors of the Nigerian presidency in fighting against corruption, including the ongoing probe of Mr. Magu which is being anchored by the Honorable justice Salami and his panel.

Our client, Mr. Magu, promises to cooperate with the Salami led panel by providing a former response to panel concerning the allegations against him since he has not been formally served with a copy of those allegations by the Salami panel.

The lawyer continued by saying his client strongly pleas for fair and just probe proceedings against him, with open mind and patience from the Nigerians until the end of the probe is accomplished.

 Shittu said Mr. Magu, his client, would never rebel against the present administration, and will never go against it.

 He declared that his client recognizes the integrity of President Buhari and the anchor of the probe panel, Hon. Justice Ayo Salami and he is confident that only the truth in his case will eventually prevail.

He then urged the Nigerians as well as the international community to continue working together with the present administrations' efforts to rid out the society of crimes and frauds.

His client accepts his current experience with calm without resentment as he believes that no one is above the law and law is always bigger than anyone. He continued by saying his client will never make a degrading comment against Buhari's administration.

In the overview, according to the lawyer, Mr. Magu has promised to cooperate with the probe panel set up by the presidency and also request for fair and just probe from the panel and as well urge the Nigerian to wait till the end of the probe with open minds.
