In a statement made on Monday, endorsed by NEF's Director, Publicity and Advocacy, Dr Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the Forum said that "individuals who accept they can scare or compromise the North into submitting to their requests are terribly mixed up". The statement reads: "Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has followed late turns of events, occasions and expressions from numerous quarters, all of which recommend that our nation is at a vital crossroads that will decide its destiny and the security of all Nigerians for quite a while to come.
