Senator-elect for Imo west senatorial district, Osita Izunaso in an interview with Arise News, said his people voted for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu during the last election.
He said when people say that south-easterners did not vote for the president-elect, they should remember that Bola Tinubu got 66,000 votes from his senatorial district during the general election.
He said his people voted for him during the last election and also voted for Bola Tinubu because they believed that if they win the election, he is going for the office of senate president.
He said his people know he is not the kind of person who would abandon them when he becomes senate president.
Osita Izunaso said "in my local government where I come from, I got 21,000 votes, our presidential candidate got 18,000 votes. I won this election with 70,000 votes. Asiwaju Bola Tinubu got 66,000 from my senatorial district. So when people begin to say that South-East did not vote for him (Bola Tinubu), my people voted for him.
"They know where we are heading to, they know that if we win this election, that we will be heading for the office of the senate president. I'm not the kind of politician that will become senate president and abandon my people, they already know, that's why they voted for me and they went ahead to vote for APC presidential candidate."
