Uzodimma sacks labour commissioner

The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, has sacked the Commissioner for Labour and Productivity, Ford Ozumba.

The Commissioner for Information, Declan Emelumba, in a statement on Saturday, said the sacking was with immediate effect.

Uzodimma was said to have directed Ozumba to hand over all necessary documents to the permanent secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Productivity immediately.

LP Threatens To Occupy INEC Offices Nationwide

The Labour Party has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of frustrating its petition against the outcome of the 2023 presidential election.

At a press conference in Lagos, spokesman of the Presidential Campaign Council of the party, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, accused INEC of disobeying the Order of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal which directed it to grant the Party and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, access to the certified true copies of materials used in the conduct of the poll.

He said the order of the presidential election petition tribunal was duly served on INEC on March 3 despite the fact that the commission was present and represented at the tribunal when the order was made.

He said the party also sent a letter to the Commission on March 6, reminding the electoral umpire that it was yet to obey the order.

Fresh FM presenter, Baba Bintin, dies on way to office

A presenter with Ibadan-based private radio station, Fresh FM Nigeria, popularly known as Baba Bintin, has died after he slumped on his way to the radio station for his programme on Saturday.

Baba Bintin’s death was announced during a radio programme by the station on Saturday.

“I’m finding it very difficult to believe this story that is breaking here,” popular presenter, Mayor Isaac Brown, said on the radio station.

“He (Baba Bintin) left his home like we all did this morning to come into this station to do our daily job and contribute our quota to national development; the job like we love to do, and I’m being told that the man just slumped this morning and he died while getting ready to come here.”

Bauchi guber: APC candidate laments alleged shooting of security details

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Bauchi State, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar (rtd.) has restated that three security details attached to him were shot during the recent violent incident in Duguri, Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA).

Speaking to journalists on Friday, Sadique said his men succeeded in retrieving two guns from the thugs who carried out the attack.

He also raised concerns about the possibility of thugs being used on the day of the election, asserting that the APC would not be intimidated.

The former Chief of Air Staff challenged Governor Bala Mohammed to focus on the issues of governance in the state.
