Meet The Great Mozambique Activist Who Has Been Married To The Presidents Of Two Different Countries

"No I am not lucky I'm blessed" where the lyrics from one of Nicki Minaj songs. Indeed, some people are not lucky they are just blessed that greatness and history follows them wherever they go.

In this world some women pray to marry and yet they never do, some women marry men who are beneath them just to answer married woman. And while others wait for their luck and pray to be blessed others just choose from a queue of great men who they will spend the rest of their lives with. That indeed is a definition of blessing.

One of the women that had the privilege of such blessing is Machel Graca. Machel Graca, is a Mozambique born humanitarian, human rights activist and politician.

Machel Graca was born on the 17th of October 1945. She has made history as the only woman in modern times, who have been married to two different Presidents.

Graca did not just marry two Presidents rather, she was married to two great leaders.

She married her first husband Samora Machel in 1975 and stayed with him until his death in 1986. During the period of their marriage she became first lady of Mozambique from 1975-1986.

Samora Machel was the president of Mozambique from 1975 to his death in 1986 He was know as a revolutionary and was the first president of Mozambique. He died in 1986 one month to his 53rd birthday at the age of 52 He was survived by his wife Graca Machel and their two children.

Twelve years after the death of her husband, Graca got married to the great Nelson Mandela of South Africa. She married Nelson Mandela in 1998 and they were together until his death in 2013.

Many people know Nelson Mandela as the man who fought against apartheid, he was also a revolutionary. He was the first ever duely elected black president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.

Graca served as first lady of South Africa from 1998-1999.

Machel greatness doesn't just stop at her being the wife to two great presidents. But also she served as the Mozambique minister of education and culture.

Graca Machel is also a renowned international advocate for women and children rights. And for her service to humanity through her humanitarian and activist works, she was made an honorary Dame by Her Majesty Queer Elizabeth in 1997.

Indeed, Graca was a blessed woman who used her blessings to help great men achieve more greatness. And at the age of 75, she is still using her blessings to bless others both internationally and locally through her humanitarian and activist works.

Indeed Graca is a definite of greatness. She is also a justification of the saying beside every great man there is a woman. She stood as a rock beside to great men who will forever be remembered by posterity.
