Thousands of Edo state residents have condemned the actions of the alleged Governor Godwin Obaseki's loyalist for destroying billboards and other campaign posters of Osagie Ize-Iyamu who is the Governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The activities of the alleged miscreants has been on for some days now,as they have torn down a lot of campaign billboards and other campaign materials of the APC in strategic areas of the state capital which include,New Benin area,Uselu Shell and Iyaro axis.
Some residents who spoke to newsmen condemned the autocratic actions allegedly carried out by the Godwin Obaseki led government.Others publicly denounced Obaseki's attempt to violate the rights guaranteed in a democratic government.They added that Ize-Iyamu of the APC is a moving train who can't be halted by blackmail or intimidation.
Some other residents which include Aghaze Onyemuwa and some female traders urged the Governor to as a matter of urgency,replace the damaged and removed billboards.Meanwhile,a staff of the outdoor advertising company in charge of billboard management in the affected areas who preferred to remain anonymous due to some reasons,alleged that they have been facing heavy threats from some Edo State Government officials after the installation of the billboards.
