The Governorship hopeful on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), in the 2020 Governorship Election in Ondo State, Omo'ba Jimi Odimayo has called on the incumbent, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) to as a matter of importance, prepare for direct primary poll to test his popularity within the ruling party, instead of his outboast over who the leadership should pick as fiagbearer to win the general election.
Odimayo, while reacting to the statement credited to Akeredolu that APC might lose the state to the opposition party if he was not pick as the party candidate for the election later in the year; said Governor Akeredolu is already reading the handwriting on the wall and seriously feeling the heat of possible failure and rejection at the party primary that is expected to produce the candidate for the governorship poll.
Akeredolu is a drowning man who urgently need the service of a diver in the national leadership of APC to rescue him to stay afloat, but I can frankly tell you that it's already late for him because he is no longer popular, lost every connections with party structures in the state and no longer enjoy any patronage and affection of party leaders and members across the eighteen council areas of the state.
Rather than going to Abuja to make loud noise to no avail to curry undeserved favour of the national leadership of APC; he should come back to his state to canvass for the support of party faithful he has abandoned for three years.
The governorship aspirant, however urged the national leadership of APC not to be decieved and cajoled by the false claims and needless outburst of Akeredolu over the candidacy of the party for the Ondo 2020 Governorship Election slated for later this year, stressing that the true state of the party in the state is that Akeredolu as flagbearer will spell doom for APC in the general election, as the only feasible solution is for a candidate to emerge through the already approved direct primary poll as it was done in Lagos State in the 2019 General Election.
Odimayo assured his numerous supporters within and outside the party in the state his readiness to cling the party ticket as flagbearer of APC and go ahead to win the general election to take over as governor from Akeredolu on February 24, 2021.
