Sad news for the people of Idah, as their royal father joins his ancestors. His death is coming just seven years after his installation as Attah of Igala by the then governor of kogi state, the person of Capt. Idris Wada.
He was the second Attah to have ruled the Igala people after Attah Aliyu Obaje who ruled from 1956 to 2012. Attah Michael Idakwo Ameh Oboni II was the first Attah of Igala to embrace Christianity and the first Attah to marry a single wife. After his installation as Attah, he asked the Bishop of kogi state the person of Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Ademu Adaji to bring a chapel to the palace where he can be worshipping.
The late Attah was born in idah to the royal family of Agabaidu Ameh Oboni, who reigned as Attah of Igala between 1946 and 1956. He is a graduate of Political science from the famous University of Abuja.
According to Leadership news, the monarch was said to have died at a private hospital in Abuja, after undergoing a surgery. He died at the age of 71. Although his death have not been officially announced due to the customs and tradition of the Igala people that the Attah do not die, but travelled to a very far journey.
The Attah is likely to be buried in the forest where other Attah's are buried according to their tradition.
