October 21 2020 remains a year that will be remembered throughout history. After a considerable tolerance for Nigerian government, the youth took to the street to express their displeasure for SARS brutality. The protest started off peacefully and gradually turned violent. Some rumours have it that tugs infiltrated the protest but either way the resultant effect was lethal.
Of most significance is the Lekki tollgate massacre. That night, protesters were out on the streets of Lagos protesting for the abolition of SARS when suddenly they heard gun shots. According to some sources, the shots were fired by Nigerian army, though it was debunked as false. After consistent probing, they agreed that both fake and live bullets were taken to the protest ground precisely because of hoodlums.
Tiwa Savage in reaction to this, lent her voice to the # EndSARS campaign at the 2020 MOBO Award. The singer displayed her vocal prowess on stage when she was singing her hit track 'Koroba' and 'Save My Life'. The audience were stunned when she instantly diverted and started singing about the Lekki massacre. Eventually, she ended the song with the question on everyone's mind, 'who gave the order'.
