Opinion: 2 Factors Jonathan Didn't Consider While Inaugurating WAEF To Eradicate Election Conflict

The inauguration of the West African Elders Forum, an initiative of the Goodluck Jonathan Foundation aimed at eradicating election rigging, resolving election conflicts, promote democracy and good governance in Nigeria and other West African countries.

Firstly, Jonathan failed to realize that it is the mode of Africa election that has always prompt rigging and conflict. If voting is done electronically, it will be difficult to rig it nor will there be conflict, and many people will be willing to vote. No way by which parties can entice people with money to vote for their party candidate.

What Jonathan should have pushed for is the change in the system of how elections are been held in West Africa. Everything is been digitalized, so African countries should adopt electronic voting in which youths can leverage to vote for credible candidates of their choice.

More so, in as much as the cost expended during electioneering campaigns is high, election rigging would continue to persist which eventually will cause election conflict.

Jonathan should have first considered and address these two major issues before inaugurating the West African Elders Forum. Else, the aim of the forum would be frustrated and forfeited.
