The Special Assistant (SA) to the governor of Ebonyi State on School Monitoring/Public Institutions, Ezza North Local Government Area, Chief Edwin Okah has urged the Coordinators of Development Centres in the Local Government Area to be diligent in discharging their duties. Chief Okah gave the advice during his weekly routine inspection of schools and public institutions which took his team to the four development centres in the area.
The SA frowned at the low attendance of staff the DCs to work, adding that such negligence of duty did not in any way represent the purpose with which the state government created the Development Centres. Chief Okah implored the Administrative Officers and Heads of Departments (HODs) to keep daily staff attendance register and warmed that no staff would be absent from duty without official permission from the Admin Officers or the HODs as the case might be.
He charged the Admin and Finance Officers of the DCs to obtain the monthly wage bill from Ebonyi State Joint Account Committee (JAC) so as to be able to fish out and ensure that ghost workers, absconders, retired and dead civil servants were not payrolled. He advised the staff to cooperate and maintain harmonious work relationship and at the same time urged them to observe Covid-19 protocols in their offices and other social gatherings.
Hon Okah called on the Management Committee Members to commence with immediate effect the visit of Health Centres in their respective DCs and bring situational reports to his office.
The SA informed the Coordinatorrs, the Management Committee Members and the staff of the DCs visited that it was the mandate and within the purview of his office to monitor, visit, inspect and report the activities of the DCs to the state government accordingly.
Finally, Chief Okah applauded the state governor, Chief Apostle Engr Dave Umahi for his developmental strides within less than six years in office, despite the meagre resources from the federation account to Ebonyi State. He described the governor as the grand master of infrastructure whose love for rapid development of the state is second to none. He expressed satisfaction with the governor's purposeful and people's oriented leadership which has translated into the proper functional of the DCs, adding that it was the intention of the state government to bring the government and development closer to the people, hence, the DCs were created. He therefore called on the Coordinators and others to be loyal and remain supporthe to Chief Umahi's government.
In their respective speeches, the DC Coordinators: Hon. Kingsley Akam of Ezza North DC, his counterparts of Ezza North East, Ezza West and Imoha DCs; Hon. Solomon Nwafor I., Hon. Innocent Nwankwo and Hon. Mrs Roseline Nwankwo commended the governor for his determination and commitment towards developing the state. They all pledged to be supportive to Umahi's government, adding that they would never be wanted in the discharge of their duties.
You may recall that It was the Coordinator of Ezza North Development Centre Hon. Akam Kingsley that was present during the visit while other Coordinators were represented by Admin Officers of the DCs.
Acccompanied the SA to the visit were TAs: Pastor Mrs Rita Okpaku and Hon Barr. F.M. Obaji among others.
