"Justice, Equity and Fairness Is What Ndigbo Wants NOT BIAFRA"- Gov. Uzodinma Reveals

Since the Easter Monday attack on the Custodial Centre and Police Command In Imo state, where over 1800 inmates escaped and several cars destroyed, there has been series of talks and statements from both the State governor and other critical stakeholders regarding the security situation of the state.

Similarly, there are huge concerns in the entire Eastern region over insecurity as states like Ebonyi, Abia and Imo have had different and serious cases of killings, kidnappings and sexual molestation by some unknown gunmen and criminal Fulani herdsmen. It is in this light, governors of the region, critical stakeholders and heads of security agencies converged on Sunday, April 11 2021, in Owerri to have the maiden security summit of the South-East geo-political zone.

During the unprecedented security meeting, the host governor, Hope Uzodinma debunked stories, he described as conspiracy theories emanating from the recent twin attack in the state. He intimated that while some are of the opinion that the attack was evidence that the Igbo people do not want to be part of the country anymore, others proposed that the situation shows that the Igbo nation is not united and unfit to produce the next president of the country come 2023. Uzondinma described all these statements as an erroneous impression that does not represent the true image of the Igbo people.

"The most ridiculous of these theories is the one that posits that Igbo no longer want to be part of Nigeria hence their belligerence and predilection for war and violence," he said

While urging some of his brothers to shun the chance of war, he maintained that what the people of the region want is a country that accommodates everyone on a level-playing ground where justice, equity and fairness thrives. He announced and kicked against those calling for Biafra as he described those behind it as young and inexperienced who should be under their tutelage to learn from the ruins of the past.

"What Ndigbo wants is justice, equity and fairness. A Nigeria that provides a level playing ground for all citizens. That is what we want, not Biafra. And we believe we can get what we want through constructive and tenacious engagement with fellow Nationals and relevant institutions, not by violence or war, he added

Meanwhile, a regional security network was formed during the meeting and codenamed "EbubeAgu" to co-ordinate the vigilante activities of the region working in tandem with other security agencies. They also banned open-grazing in the entire region

As a strong asherent of Biafra, do you agree with Governor Hope Uzodinma?
