Ade Mario, the Director General of the The Coalition of Nigerian Youth on Security & Safety Affairs (CONYSSA) talked about the appointment of a Senate President in the Tinubu government. He was asked where he thinks the Senate Presidency should be zoned to.
He reacted to the question by saying that all Nigeria needs to do at this point is something that will promote equity and justice. In appointing the senate president, Nigeria needs to consider, and make sure that a particular group isn't marginalized or feel marginalized.
Ade Mario said "For equity and justice to reign in Nigeria, the senate presidency should be zoned to the southeast. But since 1999 till date, southeast has produced more senate presidents than any other regions in Nigeria".
"But for equity and fairness to reign, I think that the senate presidency should still be zoned to the southeast despite they have had it more than any other regions in Nigeria. If the senate presidency isn't given to the southeast, they will feel marginalized, and that's bad for the country" Ade Mario said.
