According to the National Security Adviser (NSA) Babagana Monguno, President Muhammadu Buhari expressed his concern for the widespread hunger and hunger in the land during a closed-door meeting with the security chief on Thursday, August 19, 2021. Worries of poverty.

Mongno told the state council correspondent after the meeting that Buhari described the widespread hunger in the country as an "emergency."

"For him, this is also an emergency, and people should not be hungry and desperate. "This is what he wants to study. You will use all the necessary tools, all the relevant tools you can use to solve the prevalent hunger problem.

" Nigeria has an estimated population of 200 million, of which more than half live on less than US$1 a day and live in extreme poverty.

Food inflation and the devaluation of the naira have also made feeding millions of Nigerians a difficult task.

The Buhari government has repeatedly pledged to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within 10 years.
