There Are Few Bad Eggs In INEC Politicians Can Buy Off, But They Can't Do Anything For Them - Jega

The Former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega has stated that despite the fact that the usage of INEC officials to manipulate the result of an election by the political class has reduced, there are still few bad eggs in the commission who politicians can still buy off. Jega said these people (INEC) cannot help the politicians if the votes are not cast in their favour.
In his words, he said:
"In the past, not until 2007, all the reckless political class need to do is to buy off an INEC official, so they don't care about mobilizing people to come out and vote. They buy election official who will just write the result and declare them the winner. They go to tribunal and also try to buy their way off there. Now it is becoming increasingly difficult; there are still a few, very few bad eggs that you can still buy in INEC, but invariably, there is nothing they can do for you if the votes are not cast in your favour. If they declare false results, it is very easy now to know it is a false result."
