In anticipation of the upcoming 2023 presidential election, the Southern governors have been engaging in series of legal activities lately in order to ensure that the 2023 presidency is zoned to the region following their vows that the next president of Nigeria must come from the South.

However, amid the legal tussle between the Southern and the Northern governors on which region should produce the next president come 2023, it may interest us to recall how Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State had earlier enlightened the Southern governors on the path to tread if they wish for their dreams of 2023 Southern presidency to become a reality.

Governor El-Rufai few days after the Northern Governors Forum (NGF) convened a meeting in Kaduna State where they countered the stand of their Southern counterparts on 2023 presidency had advised the Southern governors to make out time and come down to the North and have a discussion with them, so that they can resolve whether to endorse their decision for 2023 while adding that they can't just stay in their respective states and demand that 2023 presidency be relinquished to them.
Having this very fact in mind, my question now is; What's keeping the Southern governors from traveling down to the North to meet their Northern counterparts as suggested earlier by Governor El-Rufai?

Consequently, we all are already aware that politics they say is a game of numbers and when it comes to population voting in Nigeria the North has the numerical strength over other regions. However, I sincerely believe that it's either the Southern governors are still contemplating Governor El-Rufai's suggestion, or that they already have a better alternative that could aid them in achieving their dreams of 2023 Southern Presidency, hence the hesitation.
