The ban on open grazing in some states within the southern part of Nigeria has raised a lot of arguments in the country. The Anti-Open Grazing law was signed by some governors in order to settle the dispute between farmers and herdsmen.

However, some Northern leaders and groups (Including Miyetti Allah) have strongly rejected the Anti-Open Grazing law because they believe that it will be expensive for herders within the country. The Southern Governors forum led by Governor Akeredolu agreed that all southern states should implement the Anti-Open Grazing law.

Apart from the Anti-Open Grazing law, the Southern Governors forum stated that the 2023 presidency should be zoned to the Southern region. This decision taken by Southern governors was opposed by Hakeem Ahmed-Baba (Spokesman of Northern Elders Forum).

Recently, one of the herdsmen groups in Nigeria (Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore) disclosed that herders will not support any southern candidate who is against open grazing if the person contests for 2023 presidency.
The spokesman for the Miyetti Allah group (Saleh Alhassan) made this statement on tuesday while featuring on "PUNCH" Online interview programme.
Nevertheless, a lot of people are curious to know if Southern Governors will change their decision over the Anti-Open Grazing law due to Miyetti Allah's comment on 2023 presidency.

I believe that Southern Governors should not change their decision about the Anti-Open Grazing law in order to win the 2023 presidency. They should have a meeting with Miyetti Allah and other groups in order to know how to tackle the issues involved in the Anti-Open Grazing law.
Also, Miyetti Allah should know that threatening the Southern Governors with 2023 presidency may not be the best idea. They should find a way to convince the Southern Governors about their challenges with the Anti-Open Grazing law and ask them to provide alternative options for them.
