During his visit to the state to take part in the event hosted by the governor of the state, Charles Soludo, to commemorate his one year in office, Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, was once again in the spotlight in Anambra.

Olusegun Obasanjo, the former president of Nigeria, was among those who stood up to greet and receive the former governor of Anambra State, who visited the event in Awka, the state capital.
The appearance of Peter Obi, who received a thunderous greeting, exchanged an embrace with Obasanjo, and the host of others who had stood up to also greet him, was among the significant leaders that Governor Soludo, who was celebrating his one year in service as the governor of the state, hosted.

However, this is concurrent with his court petition challenging the procedures that resulted in Bola Tinubu's election as president-elect of Nigeria following the recently finished presidential election in which he was beaten by the APC.
