A Nigerian politician and APC chieftain, Danasabe Suleiman-Kakanda, has described Sen. Abubakar Yari, the former governor of Zamfara State, as the choice of the north for the Senate presidency. In his interview, Danasabe revealed what transpired when his people in the north were approached to vote for Tinubu in the last election.
Addressing the topic, Danasabe said, "This is the position of the North, and the senator-elects from the North will abide by it. The NASS is a body on its own, and they have constantly understood their position and each other. We urge senators from the other regions to support the position of the North, irrespective of the party's zoning arrangement.
He added, "During our campaigns, we spoke to our people in the north and gave them reasons to support Tinubu. Some northerners complained that the position of vice president was not enough, but we assured them that the Senate presidency would come to the north. The president is from the south-west, while his vice president is from the north-east. Therefore, the North West must be carried along in the administration. We think Yari is fit for the Senate Presidency.
