It is of no news that President Muhammadu Buhari had a wife before his current wife, Aisha Buhari. Muhammadu Buhari as a young military officer got married to Safinatu Mani in 1971. Safinatu was 18years of age when she got married to Buhari. Like Buhari, She is of Fulani Tribe from Katsina State although she was born and bred in Jos, the Capital City of Plateau State. Safinatu was a Grade ll Certificate Holder, She was educated at the Women Teacher's Training College in Katsina State.
HOW THEY MET
According to Report, Safinat met Muhammadu Buhari when she was 14, He (Buhari) accompanied his Late Friend, General Shehu Musa Yar'adua to Safinatu's Father, Alhaji Yusuf Mani who was then a Secretary to the Mallam Musa Yar'adua (Father of Shehu and Umaru Musa Yar'adua), a First Republic Minister.

The Duo of Muhammadu and Safinatu Buhari had Five Children together named Fatima, Hadiza, Zulailat, Safinatu and Musa (Late). Safinatu Buhari was the 7th First Lady of Nigeria, serving from 31st December, 1983 to 27th August, 1985. The Couple divorced in 1988 while Buhari re-married to Aisha (the incumbent First Lady) in 1989. His Ex-wife, Safinatu died in 2006 at the age of 53.
