The house of Representatives have set new record today after swearing in Hon. Chimobi Obisike as the member representing Aba North and South to replace late Hon. Ossy Prestige who died on 6 February 2021.
This will be the very first time that a dead legislator will be replaced before his burial in the national Assembly. We have seen some legislators die while in office but all where replaced after they must have been buried. But INEC conducted a by-election to replace Hon. Prestige while he was still in the mortuary.
This will also be the first time that a successor of a dead legislator will join the precession of the dead in the national Assembly.
Ossy died after a protracted sickness in Germany and will be buried this weekend. he represented the people of Aba North and South for about six years in the house of Representatives before his death.
He was loved by numerous people in Aba and many see him as one of the best politician to have come from Abia state.
