Barrister Konstante Timi Olopele, Vocal Chief of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State, dragged the Deputy Governor of Ondo State and the gubernatorial aspirant to the platform of the PDP, Hon. Agboola Alfred Ajayi to the Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure seeking disqualification from the party's primary election on July 22, 2020.
The suit was brought by Barrister Akpofiwei Anthony Macleans of AMAC Solicitors on behalf of Olopele Konstante and other concerned members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).
He 's confirmed that Hon. Agboola Ajayi has violated the Code of Conduct for Public Officials and should therefore be prohibited from holding any public office for a maximum period of ten years to come.
The expert motion brought before the court was initiated with the original summons dated 17 July 2020 with suit No: AK/45M/2020. The applicant further argued that the Deputy Governor of Ondo had consistently acted in breach of Section 1, 5th Schedule, Part 1 of the Code of Conduct for Public Officials and Section 9 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended.
The legal practitioner also prays for the disqualification of Hon. Agboola Ajayi on the failure of the Deputy Governor to comply with the provisions of the West African Examination Council (WAEC) Act, Cape W4 Law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2004.
It was also stated in the suit that Agboola Ajayi had violated the existing laws governing the participation of the WAEC and the Nigerian Law School while serving as elected Chairman of the Local Government and a member of the Federal House of Representatives.
