NSCDC Deploys 1,500 Operatives In Akwa-Ibom

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Akwa Ibom says it has deployed 1,500 operatives to ensure adequate security for lives and property in the state during the Easter celebration.

The State Commandant of the corps, Mr Samuel Fadeyi, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Uyo on Wednesday.

“We have deployed 1,500 officers and men to complement other security agencies in assuring security, law and order during the celebration. We warn vandals to permanently stay off critical national assets and infrastructure", Fadeyi said.

"We Have Fierce Political Battles" - Umahi

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi has attributed the fierce political battles recorded in the state to people’s “over-dependence on politics” as means of livelihood.

Umahi said this on Wednesday in Abakaliki during a send-off organised by the state in honour of the Nigerian Ambassador-Designate to Zambia, Chief Nwanne Ominyi.

He said that most people in the state had no other job than politics, adding that the situation stemmed from people’s deficient background.

Abaribe Speaks

Senate Minority Leader, Enyinnaya Abaribe, has said President Muhammadu Buhari was morally wrong to travel to the UK for medical check-up.

Buhari on Tuesday afternoon, departed the shores of Nigeria for London, the United Kingdom through the Abuja International Airport.

Buhari is not expected back in the country until the second week in April according to an earlier statement by his spokesperson, Femi Adesina on Monday when he announced the president’s trip to Nigerians.

Wike Sends Strong Message To Buhari

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State says he doesn't have any reason to travel abroad for a medical check-up because the State Government House Clinic is equipped with everything he needs for medical examination.

The governor said this on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, when a delegation of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

Wike’s comment came at a time President Muhammadu Buhari left the country for a medical check-up in London.

Many Nigerians have also reacted to Buhari's trip to London. Some have questioned why Buhari decided to go abroad for treatment.

Do you think Buhari should have stayed in Nigeria instead of going to London?
