Honourable Signor accosted trucks trying to gain entrance into C'River State through Gakem border

The Cross River State COVID-19 Taskforce have ordered that all trucks carrying passengers to gain entrance through the Gakem border to the State should return back to wherever they are coming from. The border area is between Benue State and Cross River State. The incident happened on Tuesday night, May 6, 2020.

The Taskforce which is headed by the Cross River State Commissioner for Youths and Skill Acquisition, Honourable Signor Omang Idiege.

The trucks and other vehicles were ordered back by Hon. Signor Omang after thorough checks of every vehicle by the Joint Task Force.

Hon. Signor Omang have been on the frontline in the fight against the dreaded novel coronavirus.

He had assured the people of Gakem community and the Bekwara people that he will through the State Government do all he can to ensure that they are safe and COVID-19 free. He went further to applaud the effort of the State Governor, Sir Ben Ayade for his immense effort towards the fight against COVID-19.

Hon. Signor have spent so many nights at the Gakem border, ensurung that there is complete lockdown at the border.

The truck loaded with passengers and other vehicles tried sneaking in to the State through Gakem border on Tuesday night, May 6, 2020 but were accosted by the Taskforce and youths in the community.

As at the time of filing this report, Cross River State still remains COVID-19 free.
