Two Lessons To Be Learnt As APC Appoints Yahaya Bello & Others

The All Progresives Congress (APC) has appointed Mr. Yahaya Bello and 8 other people to organise the party primary election in Ondo State.

The Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Committee of the APC had earlier today announced Bello as the chairman with Olorogun o’tega Emerhor OON as Secretary and Alwan Hassan, Samuel Sambo, Hajiya Binta Salihu, Emma Andy, Adebayo Adelabu, Abdullahi Aliyu, Margret Ngozi Igwe as members of the committee.

There are two lessons that we can learn from the development in the APC. And the two lessons will help to further strengthen the All Progresives Congress in the country.

First, the party was careful enough in its selection of the members of the electoral committee. Almost all the major ethnic groups are found in the electoral committee of the party.

The Buni-led Caretaker Committee must be commended for being sensitive to ethnic matters in Nigeria and the efforts made will make the exercise more successful.

Apart from observing the ethnic diversity in the country and in the party, religion matters a lot to most Nigerians. In that committee set up by Mai Mala Buni, there are Christians and Muslims.

Lastly, there is a great lesson for young politicians to learn. Yahaya Bello is one of the youngest governors in Nigeria. But he is rising in politics and he is gaining more power daily.

The Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker Committee recognises the need to be including youths in what happens within the party.
