The government of Lagos State has made it known on Friday that they are working with Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC), towards ensuring that all households in Lagos State are metered by the end of the current administration come 2023.
The Lagos State government revealed this during the launch of the Federal government's National Mass Metering Programme (NMMP) which was organised by the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).
According to Lagos State commissioner of energy and mineral resources, Olalere Odusote, the effort was towards mitigating the complaint from households in Lagos.
He said, "Our intention is to mitigate the complaints of Lagos residents, through the elimination of estimated billing in the country".
"Our interest is to ensure that everyone using electricity in the state pays for it".
"We are working necessary measures to ensure that every household in Lagos are metered before the end of this administration".
The commissioner also stated that the executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajige Sanwo Olu has approved the project and that they are partnering with EKEDC to make sure this is achieved.
