As the southeast is trying and making so much effort towards curbing the incessant crises bedeviling the region, there have been some underground moves and accusations flying around as recent revelations from the governor of Anambra state have revealed that all is not well in the region.
In a shocking revelation made by his political adviser, the Governor accused his colleagues, the other governors of the southeast of fuelling the wave of crises in his state, Anambra.
This comes as surprising seeing that other states in the region have in one way or the other, felt the massive attacks of the gunmen.
Speaking on the issue, the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the Governor of Anambra state, Ifeatu Obiokoye, had alleged that the unnamed governors were also the ones sponsoring the violence in the state.
Recall the Anambra state governor was absent during the recent Southeast governors meeting held in Enugu state.
Obiokoye revealed that the Governor deliberately stayed away as he did not trust his colleagues enough to discuss security matters with them.
At the moment, the southeast is agitating for Presidency and some political commentators have wondered why the southeast governors have not taken a uniform stand on the issue yet.
The recent crises and bad blood within the ranks of the southeast Governors have explained the situation and this is likely to cost the region the presidency.
With the agitation and demands presented by the 17 southern Governors earlier, the deal would have been sealed if the southeast governors had also, jointly issued their own demands as this would have driven the agitation home but that never happened.
Although the Anambra state government has not offered any concrete revelations nor revealed any names of the perpetrators of the dastardly acts, the Governor's adviser mentioned that the plan is to make the state ungovernable and also, create voter apathy which would make voters think the Governor, Obiano is failing in the security aspect of the state thus the need to vote his party out of power.
Recall the attorney general of the federation, Abubakar Malami had recently mulled the idea of declaring a state of emergency in the state.
With this revelation, it goes further to show that the southeast is not ready for the presidency and also, that the recent activities plaguing the region may not be resolved in a long while.
At the moment, the southeast has 5 states. 2 Governors are in the ruling APC, 2 are in the PDP, while one, which is Obiano, still belongs to APGA.
With the difference in political ideology and now, the suspicion over sponsors of the unknown gunmen in the region, reaching a political agreement would be a hard nut to crack and this, in turn, would affect the decision-making process of the region as it concerns the 2023 presidency.
