The meeting which was well attended by the NANS President, Senate President of NANS and the Zonal Coordinators, touched on far-reaching issues as the used the opportunity to assure the Students community of his administrations resolve to continue to invest in Education in the State.
Pleased with the visit, the governor gifted 2 Brand New SUV Buses to the National Executives. One for the Presidency of NANS, and another for the Office of the Senate President.
He used the opportunity to urge the leadership of NANS to continue to show leadership while noting that, many great leaders across the world, started with Student Unionism and thus, the case of the Nigerian Students must change for good especially now that, cult-related activities are ravaging the society.
Worried over the recent cult killings in our society, the governor warned that, students who engages in cultism would have themselves to blame as his administration will continue to hunt for miscreants and nobody would be spared if found wanting.
Thus, he urged them to intensify anti-cultism campaigns across the Nation in order to help mitigate the vises.
In his brief response, the President of NANS, Comr. Sunday Asefon, congratulated the Governor for his Landmark projects across the State especially the new Anambra Cargo International Airport at Umueri.
The Senate President, Comr. Chuks Okafor, while appreciating the governor, thanked him for the opportunity extended for the leadership of NANS. He informed the governor that, this is the first time, an Anambra person is holding the exalted position of "NANS Senate President".
He also informed the governor that, this would have been possible if not for well spirited efforts of ndi Anambra who believes in the "can do struggle".
Expressing his happiness, the Senate President thank the governor for making the dream of every onye-Anambra come through by providing us an Airport of global standards.
He assured the governor that the leadership of NANS parliament under his watch is determined to make a difference.
"Your Excellency Sir, we very grateful for the opportunity given too us to meet with you. What you are doing at the Airport, is of the International quality and no good person will see that and won't commend it.
You have done what no former governors were unable to do for this State. It is important to remind His Excellency that the students are like "Oliver twist" and thus, we would always "want some more" by way of program sponsorships and other National assignments..." the Senate President said!
The highpoints of the meeting witnessed an announcement of appointing one of the NANS stakeholders, Comr. Ezekiel Chinwendu Nwankwo as a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor.
