Ahead of the 2023 General Elections, the battle for the Adamawa State Governorship Seat has commenced in earnest as Top Politicians from the All Progressives Congress (APC) have started warming up to wrestle power from Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). Notable among them is a Prominent Female Politician in the State, Senator Binta Masi Garba.
Garba 53, began her Political Career in 1998 as a Member of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). In 1999, She was elected to represent Kaduna South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the PDP platform. After her first successful tenure, Garba contested again in 2003 and won. In 2006, close to the end of her second term in the Federal House of Representatives, the then Governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna, having heard of her excellent performance as a legislator representing Kaduna South, entreated her to come back to her State of origin, Adamawa State, and contest.
After making consultations, she consented and came down to contest for House of Representatives in Madagali/Michika Federal Constituency under PDP. She eventually won the seat and represented the constituency from 2007 to 2011. However, She lost her re-election bid in 2011.
Garba later served as National Woman Leader of the defunct nPDP from 2013 to 2014 when she defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). She became the Pioneer State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Adamawa State. In 2015, She contested and won the Adamawa North Senatorial Seat under the APC platform. Senator Garba was the only Female Senator from the Northern part of the Country between 2015 and 2019. During the February 2019 General Elections, She lost her re-election bid to Clifford Elisha Abbo.
Do you think she can unseat Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri come 2023???
