What Electoral Officers Need To Know As Woman Was Trapped After Hoodlums & Police Exchanged Gunfire

The All Progressive Congress (APC) held its congress to elect state officers today, October 16, 2021 in Ogun State. The election started by 10am today and while things were going smoothly, hoodlums stormed the place where the election was held to cause chaos. This resulted in an exchange of gunfire between the Police who were on ground to maintain peace and order and the hoodlums who tried to disturb the smooth conduct of the election.

While this was going on, an elderly woman was seen protecting her life in order not to be hit by a bullet. In the video shared by Daily Trust on Facebook, heavy gunshots were fired in the air as the Police tried to chase the hoodlums away.

What Electoral Officers need to know is that the elderly ones do not have the kind of strength a young person has to run while faced with danger. I actually felt for this elderly woman who left her house to cast her vote, only to be trapped at a spot while trying to save her life. What I expect Electoral Officers to do is to allow the elderly ones cast their votes first before anyone else no matter how late they arrive at the election venue. They should also provide vehicles at the polling unit to carry the elderly ones safely to their respective homes in case violence should erupt at the voting center.

What do you have to say; were you happy seeing this elderly woman trapped this way?
