One Problem Gov. Matawalle May Face After Yari Insisted On 50/50 APC Leadership Or No Deal

Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle who recently defected to the All Progressives Congress is yet to settle in the party more than a month since he dumped his former party.

Former Governor Yari and Senator Kabiru Marafa who are Zamfara APC big wigs appear to have put the governor in a tight corner with the kind of deal they want with him.

I read a publication on Daily Post where former governor of Zamfara State Abdulaziz Yari told Governor Bello Matawalle that it is either he shares the Zamfara APC leadership 50/50 with his camp or there is no deal.

Yari also insisted that his camp must produce the state chairman of APC. I don't know what will be going through the mind of the governor but I am sure that the demands of Yari and his camp will unsettle him.

In my opinion, Governor Bello Matawalle may face one problem as Yari who is a heavyweight in Zamfara APC insists that it is 50/50 for the APC leadership or no deal.

In this article, we will be discussing the problem in detail.

State governors are powerful, especially during elections. They indirectly influence the decision of delegates at the presidential and guber primary elections.

As Yari insists his camp must share the APC leadership in Zamfara equal with Matawalle, it will be hard for the governor to influence the decision of Zamfara state delegates.

Another thing that will worry the governor here is that it will be difficult for him to win the 2023 governorship ticket of APC in Zamfara.

Yari and Marafa are strong politicians in Zamfara APC and the governor will not find it easy if he doesn't agree with them.

Don't forget that the 50/50 deal also implies that Yari's camp will produce 50 percent of the delegates for the state and presidential primary elections of the APC in 2023.

In addition, Yari is also insisting that his camp must produce the state chairman of the APC in Zamfara.

We wait to see if the governor will agree to this deal that appears to favour Yari and his camp in Zamfara State.
