The Senator representing Imo central was arrested today in Abuja in his private office after a five-hours standoff with the officials of the commission.
Earlier in 2020, the Zonal Headquarter of EFCC in Porthacourt has announced through its zonal head, Usman Imam that the Enugu zonal office was investigating the former governor for alleged corruption and embezzlement of public funds, and if found guilty will be prosecuted. He further revealed the commission has frozen about 7.9 billion naira in several account linked to Senator Rochas Okorocha.
According to Premium Times, EFCC has on several occasions invited the former governor to its Abuja headquarters to respond to the allegations, but he has refused to show up on all invitations.
Wilson Uwujaren, the commission spokesperson confrimed the arrest of the former governor of Imo State. It has not been revealed yet, what he is been arrested for.
