According to information from Punch Newspapers, nominees for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize have been named. The winner of this year's edition will be announced in October 2021.
Recall that last edition was won by Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. Abiy resolved a border conflict with neighboring Eritrea. This made him the most qualified for the last year's award.
According to Nobel Committee, this year's edition has 210 individuals and 107 organizations vying for the price. However, we are going to look at some of the things you need to know about five contenders, and why they were nominated.

The Swedish teenager is known as climate change activist due the challenge she gave world leaders when they failed to take adequate action against climate change. 3. Alexei Navalny
Alexei Navalny became popular when he staged protests against corruption in his country. He was described on the The Wall Street Journal as “the man Vladimir Putin fears most.”
4.World Health Organisation
World Health Organization was nominated because of its COVAX programme which enabled poor countries to access Covid-19 vaccines.
5. Black Lives Matter
This Organization was nominated because they brought forward a new conciousness and awareness about racial justice.
