You could recall that late November last year, more than 40 rice farmers were brutally murdered by this terrorists. Since then, most of them have shied away from their farms as no one is ready to become a victim of circumstances.
However, there are new reports claiming that Borno farmers have been told to go back to their farms and continue farming. This latest development has led to various reactions from many Nigerians including senator Shehu Sani who took to his Facebook page to raise alarm.
According to Senator Shehu Sani, "telling the people of Borno to go back to the farm should be backed with tight security cover for the farmers; otherwise it's dangerous, knowing fully well that those mass murderers are very much around".
Shehu Sani's opinion should not be disregarded. I share the same view with him as well. Until the safety of lives and properties of Borno citizens can be guaranteed, they should not be allowed to go to farm without any presence of security personnel. Once you loss your life, you have lost it already. Life does not have duplicate.
What do you have to say about this? Remember Boko Haram terrorists are still out there, if it is your family member, would you allow him or her to go to farm without the presence of security operatives?
