Before, the Federal Capital was relocated to Abuja,many Nigerians did not know, where the Presidents of this country were living. Today, we know that the, Aso Rock Presidential Villa, is the official residence of the Nigeria President, since 1991.General Babangida, was the first Head of State to occupy the Aso Rock Presidential Villa. But before the completion of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa. Nigeria`s Head of State and Presidents, were living in State House, Marina, in Lagos State.
The Pre-independence, structure which served as the official residence for past presidents in the colonial and post colonial era, before the Presidential Villa was moved to Abuja. President Nnamdi Azikiwe, was the first Nigeria`s President to lived at the State House, in Marina, during the First Republic.
The State House Marina, was later handover to Lagos state government. This place is a historic site and a place that can be used for tourist attraction. The building is perfectly transformed by the Lagos State government, without compromising its structure or architectural beauty, as you can see, from the picture below.
