The Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, located along the Abuja airport road is 95 percent completed. This was confirmed during an inspection visit by the speaker of the house of assembly, and the finance minister.

The project is being handled by Julius Berger plc. This is another project that was started by previous administrations, but will be completed and delivered by the current administration. The beautiful edifice has been under construction for over six years.

The National Institute for Legislative and Democratic studies is an organ of the National Assembly. It was established to provide capacity development services to deepen Democratic and governance institutions in country. Though some higher institutions in the country have departments that provide similar services.

The edifice is located along the airport road. In my opinion, one would have thought that it will be located in the three arms zone, where the executive, legislature, and judiciary are located.

Nigeria recently celebrated twenty years of uninterrupted democracy. Institutions like this are meant to increase Nigeria's maturity in democratic ideals.
