According to Vanguard, Prince Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo, the presidential candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the recently concluded February 2023 general election, has advised Nigerians to forget the previous elections, move on, monitor, and participate in governance to enable President-elect Ahmed Bola Tinubu to succeed in the task of rebuilding the country.
Adebayo, who spoke during rights advocate Segun Awosanya's organised open space on Twitter, stated that governance should begin immediately after the winner of an election is announced.
He expressed reservations, like other Nigerians, about the conduct of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)-organised election but added that this should not prevent governance from taking place.
Adebayo said, "Politics is the process of selecting leaders for good governance. I was defeated in the elections. I have complaints about the election, which I have voiced. My votes in Adamawa on election day were 157, 000 as of 6.05 p.m., which was more than the total votes INEC announced for me nationwide. That was mentioned in my initial reaction.
"I cannot say that APC denied me. There are three things that I never do. I dislike contradictions. That the election was not good where I did not win, but it was good where I did win. I don't go to court unless I have a compelling reason to."

As expected, Prince Adewole Adebayo's remark elicited reactions on Twitter, as it was shared by Vanguard on their official handle.
A Twitter user identified as Edeh Theophilus Sunday said, "The election is not over until the petitions surrounding the election are concluded. Sir, stop living in a self-deceptive zone."
Agu said, "The house built on a faulty foundation will not stand. Do not support criminality."
Bankole A. Ph.D. said, "We cannot keep supporting a bad system and electoral process. Look where it got us today! This illegitimate election and the sham results announced must be challenged."
