Following the role the South-South played in the Presidential election, the All Progressive Congress has zoned the Senate Presidency to the region. According to reports, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the incoming president, is also interested in having Senator Godswill Akpabio, a Christian, lead the Senate. In Senator Akpabio's situation, though, it's most likely going to be the minority APC to the majority opposition parties.
Honorable Bernard Mikko, a former member of the house of representatives, has cautioned the APC not to make a mistake that could cost them control of the 10th Senate. He claimed that, in light of what Senator Akpabio had done to the PDP in 2014, which resulted in the formation of the New PDP, the party senators may not support him.
I believe Akpabio has been left to fend for himself; the PDP senators might not support him because of the past,'' he remarked. Additionally, the PDP has 37 senators who will vote in the Senate election. The majority of them are re-elected Senators, and the records are available if you present the same individual who abandoned them in this Senate and is still there.
Here, the Saraki scenario might come to pass, where they band together and take down the APC. His claim to have 70 senators is untrue; it is merely a claim. Local politics and national politics are very different from one another. You understand the PDP's issues because Akpabio joined the new PDP and said he's not in support of Jonathan.
