The Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP) urged the international community over the weekend to hold the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, accountable for the manipulations observed in the collation process, particularly the 25 February presidential election.
CNPP also appealed to the Nigerian judiciary to do a better job than the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in handling all electoral petitions filed by dissatisfied political parties in the 25 February Presidential and National Assembly elections.
In a statement signed by the CNPP's Secretary General, Chief Willy Ezugwu, the party emphasized that graveyard peace in the country must not be violated. The CNPP statement included the following: "Yet, it is stunning that INEC failed to upload the results to its IREV servers, even in big centers with sufficient Internet network connections.
"We thus urge on the international community and all lovers of democracy to hold the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, accountable for the manipulations observed in the collation process, particularly during the presidential election." Reports claim that Bola Tinubu of the APC won the 2023 presidential election.
