Remember the Activities of SIM registration was temporarily suspended December 9 around the states following the orders of Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC) for a fresh audit of SIM registration exercise on the direction of the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.
Following the Announcement of Federal government on approval of Activation of new SIM registration with mandatory NIN
NIMC tweeted the news on its Official Twitter handle, which generated reasonable reactions from people. One of such reaction was a question from one young man Olaleye Idowu.
He asked "What about foreigners that are in the country for business, what parameters do they have to get a SIM? Considering this question, it might prove a difficulty for foreigners, especially those who have lasted in the country for few years to fullfil the necessary requirements to obtain SIM registration or Activation as the NIMC Act exempts foreigners who visit the country temporarily (below 2 years) from the NIN registration.
Now that the activities of New SIM registration and activation has been called back to continue, with mandatory NIN i.e National Identification Number, Will this affect foreigners in the country in anyway? Or an alternative be made for them.
