Opinion: Reasons For APC And PDP Defeat In The Anambra Governorship Election

The People's Democratic Party, PDP and the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC have been the two major parties in Nigeria that has been in power in almost all the states.

The People have been ruling at the Federal level till 2015 when the All Progressive Congress led by President Buhari took over power. The both parties have been seen as the main oppositions and winners of election.

But the APC and the PDP lost in the just concluded Anambra Governorship Election to the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA due to the fact that the both parties were confident of winning the election and fail to do the needful. They underrated every other parties and think no one can beat them.

The both parties in the politics of Nigeria are seen as the main winners in any election and is believed to beat any other opposition in any election due to its large membership and supporters across the Nation.

APC and PDP lost because they felt they are the only party that can rule Nigeria. They went to the Election with the mindset of, "we can win" and failed to bring in their best.

The lost to APGA should serve as a lesson to both parties so they won't underrate any other party because today's election is no longer based on party's popularity, but what the people want.
