Senators-elect Need Senate President To Inaugurate Them, They Cannot Be Senate President - Garba

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Adamu Garba, has stated that he believes that the position of the party is supreme and as such, all the Senators contesting to be senate president will step down and support the decision of the party.

According to Adamu Garba, Senators-elect like Abdulaziz Yari cannot lead the Nigerian Senate because they need the senate president to inaugurate them into the senate. Adamu Garba went on to say that it is not possible for a Senator-elect to become senate president and go ahead to inaugurate himself.

Adamu Garba disclosed that if a senator-elect goes ahead to become the Senate President and inaugurates himself, it will be a breach of procedure and practices of the National Assembly.

Adamu Garba noted that he believes that some of the new senators who has indicated interest in becoming the senate president did so as part of negotiations to get something bigger in the political system.
