"I'm paid N5,000 monthly for putting my life at risk, while a Senator is paid N1.2m" -Doctor laments

Currently, resident doctors in Nigeria are on strike due to the meager allowance and poor working condition they experience in Nigeria. They are being paid poorly, compared to the risk they face in their profession as medical doctors.

Hence, a medical doctor who is popular on social media especially twitter has come out to lament the low income they receive at the end of the month.

The doctor who goes by the social media name "aproko doctor" has lamented the allowance he receives as a medical doctor, compared to that which senators receive. According to Google search, he is a medical doctor and also a health blogger.

Recall that there is an allowance called "hazard allowance" which is entitled to employees who put in extra time due to the risk they face at their place of work. This hazard allowance is mostly due to health workers.

However, according to the doctor, the hazard allowance he receives is N5,000 monthly whereas, a senator receives N1.2million naira for the same hazard allowance.

This is indeed an imbalanced payment of allowance. Doctors are faces with serious challenges of taking care of the sick and dying, hence they should be paid better allowance that will help them find fulfilment in their job.

This is a call to the federal government to look into this matter properly and ensure that medical doctors are well compensated for the effort they out in and also ensure that the strike is called of as soon as possible.
