IGP Adamu thrown out while on Official Assignment, New IGP appointed.

Nigeria's President, Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of DIG Usman Alkali Baba as acting Inspector General of police. He is to immediately replace Mohammed Abubakar Adamu who is on an official visit to Imo State.

Former Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu has been in Imo State to assess the level of damage on the Imo State Police Command and the Correctional Service by unknown gunmen.

Mr Muhammed Adamu while on the official visit ordered police operatives to be ruthless against members of the proscribed Independent People of Biafra (IPOB).

In the early hours of Monday, a group of unknown gunmen had attacked the Imo State Police Command and the Correctional Center which led to the fleeing of over 1000 inmates.

The new Inspector General, Mr Usman Alkali Baba until his appointment, served as Deputy Inspector General of Police , Department of Finance and Administration at the Force Headquarters. He is to oversee the Nigerian Police Force.
